This festival, based on Moroccan narratives of unity, commemoration, goodwill, and friendship, marks the end of Passover and the advent of spring. Highlighting the importance of the neighborhood working together, the language of Mimouna is the culinary arts and music.
PAYTANIT SHIR MALKA IFRAH is a 23 year-old liturgical artist with family roots in Morocco. She studied piyutim (liturgical poems) at Kehilot Sharot and currently teaches piyutim from Moroccan and North African traditions at the Jerusalem Conservatory. Shir sings and performs throughout Israel, Morocco and other countries at shows and festivals of Andalusian, North African and Jewish music. She led the last Selihot concert in honor of the Jewish High Holidays at the President’s residence in Israel.
