Welcome to the Special Needs area of Jconnect

This section includes events and resources that enable you or someone you know to
get involved and stay involved in the Jewish community of Greater Washington.

The calendar listings include events targeted toward people with special needs or caregivers of people with special needs.  To search the full calendar, click on “View All Events” below and search for programs based on your areas of interest. Please note
that you can search for events which are handicapped accessible or accessible for the hearing impaired.

The right hand column contains links to agencies in our community which offer services to families with special needs.  Additional resources can be found on our Special Needs Resource page.

The Partnership for Jewish Life and Learning


The Partnership for Jewish Life and Learning connects disabled individuals and their families with Jewish programs and educational opportunities in our community:

  • Placements for children in preschools, congregational schools, Jewish day schools and summer camps
  • Youth group matching for teens
  • Assistance for adults with exploring Jewish educational opportunities, including advocacy for accommodation when necessary

The Partnership helps make it possible for individuals who are deaf to participate in classes, educational programs, life cycle events, Shabbat services, or other community events with subsidy from the Community Interpreter Fund.
